The Ethiopian athlete Freweyni Hailu won the 1,500m gold at the Stockholm Diamond League. The won the race with a time of 4:02.31 min, following by her compatriots Diribe Welteji with 4:02.79 min and Hirut Meshesha with 4:03.01 min.
The top five was completed by Ciara Mageean (Ireland) and Melissa Courtney-Bryant (UK). The Tokyo 2020 Olympics silver medalist Laura Muir remained only 6th.
Freweyni Hailu is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner, who placed fourth in the 1,500m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In 2022, she became the World Indoor silver medalist at the 800ms in Belgrade.
The Kenyan athlete Beatrice Chebet won the 5,000m with 14:36.52 min, followed by Lemlem Hailu (Ethiopia) with 14:38.06 min and Medina Eisa (Ethiopia) with personal best of 14:40.02 min. Sarah Chelangat improved the Uganda’s national record with 14:40.88 min, but remained 4th.
Beatrice Chebet won the silver medal in the 5,000m at the 2022 World Championships, and became Commonwealth, African and Diamond League champion. Chebet claimed the gold medal for the women’s senior race at the 2023 World Cross Country Championships.
