Freweyni Hailu triumphed with 1,500m gold at the Xiamen Diamond League

Freweyni Hailu (Ethiopia) triumphed with 1,500m gold at the Xiamen Diamond League. The Ethiopian athlete earned the trophy after taking the distance in 3:56.56 min, which is a meeting record and season’s best.

Nelly Chepchirchir (Kenya) won the silver with personal best of 3:56.72 min, while Linden Hall (Australia) grabbed the bronze with 3:57.92 min.

The Top 5 were completed by Melissa Courtney-Bryant (Great Britain) and Worknesh Mesele (Ethiopia).

Freweyni Hailu is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner. She placed fourth in the 1,500m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In 2022, Freweyni Hailu became the World Indoor silver medallist at the 800m in Belgrade.
