The Ethiopian middle-distance runner Freweyni Hailu dominated the 3000m event at the Silesia Diamond League. She won the the gold with 8:26.61 min, improving the season world best and the tournament record.
The winner has more than a second of lead ahead of the silver medalist Lilian Kasait Rengeruk (Kenya), who finished in 8:27.80 min. The bronze went to Lemlem Hailu (Ethiopia), who took the distance for 8:29.43 min, which is her personal best.
Outside of the honors’ zone remained two Kenyan athletes – Teresia Muthoni Gateri and Margaret Akidor, both imrpoving their personal best and finishing in 8:29.48 min and 8:31.45 min, respectively.
Meanwhile, another Ethiopian athlete dominated the women’s 1500m. Hirut Meshesha earned the gold in the event with 3:54.87 min, improving the tournament record and her personal best. Her compatriot Birke Haylom and Diribe Welteji, completed the Top 3 with 3:54.93 min and 3:55.08 min, respectively, both improving their personal best.
