Leolia Jeanjean is a French tennis player, who has a career-high singles ranking of world No 138 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), achieved on July 25, 2022. During her career, she has won 2 ITF titles.
Leolia Jeanjean was born on August 14, 1995, in Montpellier, France. She was a gifted junior player but suffered a serious knee injury at age 14. As a junior, she won the titles at the Espoirs Poitou Charentes and Open Super 12 in France, as well as Taca International Maia Jovem and Lawn Tennis Club Tournament in Portugal. In 2009, she reached the quarter-finals of the European Junior Championships.
Leolia Jeanjean made her professional debut in 2012 at the $25,000 W25+H Montpellier but lost in the first round. During the season she also took part at the $10,000 Antalya but again failed to make some significant achievements.
In 2013, she reached her first ITF final at the $10,000 Borriol (Spain), but lost to Maria Marfutina. By the end of the season and the next year she continues playing in the ITF but without any significant success.
Leolia Jeanjean attended Baylor University (Bachelor in Sociology) and played college tennis at the University of Arkansas (Bachelor in Criminal justice) as well as Lynn University (MBA in Finance).
She resumed her professional career in October 2018 at the $25,000 Charleston, SC (USA), but again lost in the first round. In 2019, she took part only in one tournament – $15,000 W15 Cancun (Mexico), but reached only the second round.
In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic and the short season, she played at the $15,000 W15 Cancun, reaching the semi-finals.
Leolia Jeanjean returned fully to the court in 2021 and during the season reached the semi-finals of the $15,000 W15 Manacor (Spain), $15,000 W15 Le Havre (France), $25,000 W25 Les Contamines-Montjoie (France). However, her biggest achievement for the season was winning her first ITF trophy – $15,000 W15 Sibenik (Croatia). During the season she first time entered in Top 500.
In 2022, Leolia Jeanjean continue improving her gameplay and reached two finals at $25,000 W25 Porto (Portugal) and $60,000 W60 Croissy-Beaubourg (France), before winning the trophy at the $25,000 W25+H Calvi (France). She also debuted in the WTA tour at the WTA 125 L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo, losing in the first round. However, on the next week, she reached the third round of the French Open / Roland Garros. In Ly, she reached the second round of the WTA 250 Ladies Open Lausanne and WTA 250 Palermo Ladies Open. In August, she also qualified for the main draw of the US Open. these fantastic results improved her ranking and for the first time entered the Top 150.
