France became the last quarter-finalist at the FIFA Women’s World Cup after thrashing Morocco 4-0 in the last Round of 16 clash in Adelaide.
France applied pressure already from the very beginning and relatively quickly led the result with a convincing lead. In the 15th minute they staged a wonderful attack down the left flank where Sakina Karchaoui crossed and Kadidiatou Diani was on target. Just five minutes later, it was the striker who assisted Kenza Dali to score the second goal for the team. In the 23rd minute, Kadidiatou Diani also forced Nesryne El Chad into a foul, after which Eugenie Le Sommer sent the ball into the net with a low shot.
In the second half, the French women scored just one more goal, and it was also the work of Eugenie Le Sommer, who headed in a cross from substitute Vicki Becho in the 70th minute.
In the next phase, France will face the one host of the tournament – Australia, and the clash between them is on Saturday in Brisbane.
