Former European 100m hurdles champion Cindy Roleder retires in February

Former European 100m hurdles champion Cindy Roleder will end her career in February when the German national indoor championships take place.

“I’m already 33 years old and I’m constantly getting new ailments. I think I’ve achieved enough and what I’ve given to athletics is enough”, said Cindy Roleder.

The German track and field athlete leaves a loophole for participation in the European indoor championship in Istanbul, but for it she will have to qualify through the national championship.

Cindy Roleder planned to retire from the sport as early as last year at the European Championships in Munich but was unable to compete due to a coronavirus illness.

Cindy Roleder won her European title in 2016, and a year earlier she also took a silver medal from the world championship.
