Flying summer season start for Aleia Hobbs with 10.87 sec in the 100m

The American athlete Aleia Hobbs, who had an extremely good indoor season, also started the summer season with a very strong performance. She won the 100m sprint in Baton Rouge with a time of 10.87 sec (2.0 m/s) and topped the world rankings for the season. This is the fifth-best 100m finish of her career.

Together with her compatriots Mikiah Brisco, Candace Hill, and Symone Mason, they achieved 42.26 sec in 4×100 m.

This winter, Aleia Hobbs won the US indoor title in 6.94 sec and narrowly missed the 60m indoor world record.

Aleia Hobbs is an American professional track and field athlete specializing in sprints. She claimed three collegiate titles in 2018, winning the 60m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships and the 100m and 4x100m relay at the NCAA Division I Championships, adding the 100m US title. Aleia Hobbs is the North American indoor record holder for the 60m with a time of 6.94 sec set in February 2023, becoming the second-fastest woman of all time at the event.
