Wang Xinyu landed 38 winners, combined with 33 unforced errors by Jessica Pegula. It was Wang Xinyu’s first win over a Top 10 player.

“A few days ago I asked my coach when this would happen. Jessica is a really tough opponent on grass and I’m really happy that I was able to win in the end”, said Wang Xinyu.

The Chinese tennis player will face in the third round Harriet Dart (Great Britain), who eliminated her compatriot and the 32nd-seeded Katie Boulter after making a turnover to win by 2-1 (4:6, 6:1, 7:6).
