Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist and European 400m hurdles champion and record holder Femke Bol has announced her withdrawal from the Zurich Diamond League on September 5. As the reason for her decision, she cited an illness she had recently experienced.
“Unfortunately, I will not participate in Zurich as I planned. I’ve been sick the last few days and my body needs time to recover”, said Femke Bol.
The 24-year-old Dutch athlete in Paris also brought gold to her country in the 4x400m medley relay after a very strong run in the last post.
At the Silesia Diamond League a few days ago, she finished in 52.13 sec.
“I’ve had some great memories and I’d love to make some more this year, but I guess I’ll have to wait until next year. Good luck to everyone competing there. I hope it will be a fantastic night for everyone in the stands”, said Femke Bol.
Femke Bol specializes in the 400m hurdles, where she is the 2023 World Champion, and in the 400m, where she is the 2024 World Indoor Champion and the short track world record holder. In the 4x400m relay, she is the 2023 World Champion and the 2024 World Indoor Champion with the Dutch.
