Dutch athlete Femke Bol, who is the indoor world record holder, smashed the competition at the 400m hurdles in Florence Diamond League in Italy, winning the event with almost a second advance. Femke Bol ran the distance in 52.43 sec, winning the gold at her first event of the outdoor season.
Femke Bol is the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles with the current European record of 52.03 sec, becoming the third-fastest woman of all time and the first Dutch Olympic medalist at the event.
The American hurdles Shamier Little remained second with 53.38 sec, while her compatriot Anna Hall won the bronze with 54.42 sec. Gianna Woodruff (Panama) and Viktoriya Tkachuk (Ukraine) remained close to the honor’s zone, but missed the medals.
In the women’s 100m, the Ivorian sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou won the gold with 10.97 sec, while Gina Luckenkemper remained second with 11.09 sec and Imani-Lara Lansiquot (UK) remained with bronze. The Top 5 in the event was completed by Morolake Akinosun (USA) and Abby Steiner (USA), who finished 4th and 5th, respecitvely.
Gonezie Marie Josee Dominique Ta Lou is an Ivorian sprinter competing in the 100m and 200m. She finished fourth in the 100m and 200m at the Rio 2016 Olympics, missing out on a medal in the 100m by seven-thousandths of a second (0.007). She then won silver medals in the 100n and 200n at the 2017 World Championships, the latter in the national record time of 22.08 secs. Her 100m best is 10.72 sec, thus making her the African record holder.
