Femke Bol starts in 500m at the athletics competition in Boston

The Olympic and world medalist in the 400m hurdles, Femke Bol, will try her in an unconventional discipline. The 22-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, who won three gold medals (400m, 400m hurdles and 4x400m) at the European Championships in Munich last year, will run the 500m in competition for the first time. She will start in this unconventional discipline in Boston on February 4.

Her competitors in the 500ms in the USA will be her compatriots Lisanne de Witte, American Kendall Ellis and Jamaican Janieve Russell.

Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in the 400m hurdles and 400m. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist in the 400m hurdles with the current European record of 52.03 sec, becoming the third-fastest woman of all time and the first Dutch Olympic medallist at the event. Femke Bol won a silver in the event at the 2022 World Championships. Femke Bol holds world best in the 300m hurdles, and Dutch records in the 400m out- and indoor. In her breakthrough 2021 season, she set Diamond League and three circuit’s meet records, and 11 national records with five more as a member of relay teams.
