The European Indoor champion in the 400m Femke Bol showed excellent form in her first start of the winter season. The Dutchwoman, who won the Olympic bronze medal in the 400m hurdles from Tokyo last summer, won the 400m hurdles in Metz with the best result in the world this season. Femke Bol finished first in the French city in 50.72 sec.
This is a new record of the tournament, as well as a national record of the Netherlands. She corrected her own 50.81 sec best at the European Indoor Championships in Torun last year, where she won the 400m title and the 400m relay.
Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles and 400 metres. In her breakthrough 2021 season, she became also a two-time European Indoor champion, took 400m hurdles Diamond League title setting a circuit and three meet records, and set 11 Dutch records with five more as a member of relay teams.
Femke Bol was in her specialist hurdles event 2019 European under-20 champion. As of December 2021, she held Dutch records over the 300 / 400 m hurdles, and 400 m (in- and outdoor). For her 2021 season, she was voted European Athletics women’s Rising Star.
