Femke Bol (Netherlands) set a new European record in the 400m hurdles during the athletics tournament in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
The world champion in the discipline won with a time of 50.95 sec and became only the second woman in history, after the American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, to go under 51 seconds. Femke Bol’s mark is third all-time, with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s two bests being 50.65 sec from this year and 50.68 sec from 2022.
The old European women’s 400m hurdles record was once again held by Femke Bol of 51.45 sec, set in London last year.
Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who competes in hurdling and sprinting. She specialises in the 400m hurdles, where she is the 2023 World Champion, and in the 400m, where she is the 2024 World Indoor Champion and the short track world record holder. In the 4x400m relay, she is the 2023 World Champion and the 2024 World Indoor Champion with the Dutch women’s team.
