The 400m hurdles world champion and European record holder in the discipline, Femke Bol, made another impressive run. The Dutch athlete won her crowning event at the Brussels Diamond League with 52.11 sec. Thus, she improved the meeting record, which was 53.43 sec set by Nezha Bidouane (Morocco) in 1998.
Janieve Russell (Jamaica) finished second in the 400m hurdles with 53.80 sec, and her compatriot Rushell Clayton came third with 54.10 sec.
“This was my first Diamond League tournament in Brussels and I enjoyed it so much. The crowd was amazing, so loud. I felt at home. My result was very good to end the season, especially knowing that I didn’t clear the first few hurdles well. It’s my second-fastest finish in the Diamond League and my third-fastest of the year”, said Femke Bol after the final.
In 400m at the Brussels Diamond League, Cynthia Bolingo (Belgium) triumphed with the gold with 50.09 sec, followed by Lieke Klaver (Netherlands) with 50.16 sec and Shamier Little (USA) with 50.58 sec.
