Femke Bol recorded the fastest indoor 400m in 19 years

Olympic and world 400m hurdles medalist Femke Bol is definitely in incredible shape. The 22-year-old Dutch athlete, who also has three European titles from Munich 2022 (400m, 400m hurdles and 4x400m), went under 50 sec in the indoor 400m for the first time in her career. Femke Bol won the first place at the international athletics tournament in the French city of Metz with an achievement of 49.96 sec.

This is not only the best result in the world for the season but also fourth in the all-time indoor world ranking. It was also the fastest women’s indoor 400m since 2004, when Russia’s Natalya Nazarova clocked 49.68 sec in Moscow, taking her second in the all-time world rankings. The number one in it is the world record holder Jarmila Kratochvilova (Czechoslovakia) with 49.59 sec.

Femke Bol became only the fourth athlete in history to break under 50 sec in the indoor 400m.

Earlier in the season, the Dutchwoman also achieved the world’s number one all-time indoor mark in the 500m.
