Femke Bol has been named the 2023 Netherlands Sportswoman of the Year

Two-time European Athlete of the Year Femke Bol has been named the Netherlands Sportswoman of the Year for 2023. The Dutch athlete has had another impressive season, breaking the 400m indoor world record of 49.26 sec in the winter, and then winning two gold medals at The European Indoor Championships in Istanbul – at 400m and 4x400m. In the summer, the Dutchwoman won two gold medals at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

In 2023, Femke Bol also set a new European 400m hurdles record of 51.45 sec at the Diamond League in London, and has also dipped under 52 sec three times in 2023. Femke bol, 23, holds 12 of the 13 fastest times in Europe in the 400m hurdles.

Femke Bol specializes in the 400m hurdles, where she is the 2023 World Champion, and in the 400m, where she is the indoor world record holder. She holds the world record in the indoor 400m with a time of 49.26 sec set on February 19, 2023, the European record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.45 sec, making her the second-fastest woman of all time in the event; and five Dutch records in individual events and relays. She also has world best performances in the 300m hurdles and 500m indoor.
