The Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles and European Indoor champion in the 400m and 4x400m in Torun 2021, Femke Bol continues with her exceptional performance. The 22-year-old athlete once again broke the Dutch indoor record after winning her country’s national title by 50.30 sec.
This is the fastest run of a European 400m Indoor since 2007. With this result, Femke Bol not only topped the world rankings for the season but also came out on 12th place in the World’s Indoor list headed by Jarmila Kratochvílová with 49.59 sec.
Lieke Klaver led at the start but she held on well as Femke Bol charged away in the last 150m, finishing second in a personal best of 51.20 sec. Lieke Klaver was also part of the gold medal-winning Dutch team at the European Indoor Championships in Torun last year and their coach Laurent Meuwly believes they are primed to challenge on the global stage in Serbia next month.
Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in the 400m hurdles and 400m. She is the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medallist in the 400m hurdles with the current European record of 52.03 sec, becoming the third-fastest woman of all time and the first Dutch Olympic medallist at the event.
