Federica Brignone won the second women’s giant slalom of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Mont-Tremblant

Italian alpine skier Federica Brignone won the second women’s giant slalom of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Mont-Tremblant Resort in Canada. Federica Brignone claimed her tenth victory in the event and 23rd overall of her career, becoming the most successful Italian athlete in World Cup history.

Federica Brignone, who also celebrated in Saturday’s giant slalom, recorded a combined time of 2:11.95 min in the two runs. Earlier in the day, the Italian finished sixth in the first run with a time of 1:07:68 min, 1.22 sex behind provisional leader Petra Vlhova (Slovakia). Petra Vlhova had a lead of 0.05 sec over American skier Mikaela Shiffrin and 0.29 sec ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami (Switzerland), currently third.

In the end, Lara Gut-Behrami took second place in today’s women’s giant slalom. She posted the 12th time in the second run and was 0.33 sec behind the winner. World Cup winner Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) placed third in the race, finishing 0.39 sec off Federica Brignone’s overall time. The leader after the first run, Petra Vlhova, remained fifth in the final standings, with a lag of 0.67 sec, and Clara Direz (France) finished fourth, 0.45 sec behind Federica Brignone. She was only 13th after the first race.

Mikaela Shiffrin remains the leader in the general standings for the World Cup in alpine skiing disciplines with 470 points. Second is Petra Vlhova with 391, and Lara Gut-Behrami came in third position with 325. Federica Brignone is now fourth in the standings with 320 points. In the classification for the small World Cup in the discipline, Lara Gut-Behrami continues to lead with 325 points. Federica Brignone is second with 320, and Mikaela Shiffrin climbed to third place with 220 points.

The next starts for the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup are coming up in the Swiss resort of St. Moritz between December 8th and 10th.
