Faith Kipyegon’s one-mile world record was ratified

Faith Kipyegon’s world records of a mile, which was set earlier this year, were ratified by the World Athletic.

The Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon set a total of three world records this year, two of which were registered within one week – 3:49.11 minutes in 1,500m at the Florence Diamond League and 14:05.20 min at 5,000m at the Paris Diamond League. A few weeks later, she also reached a world record for the Monaco Diamond League, where covered the distance of one mile for 4:07.64 min.

“I really enjoyed the race. I came here for this, I wanted to chase the world record”, said Faith Kipyegon after the Monaco race.

Faith Kipyegon is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. At the Rio 2016 Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she won a gold medal in the 1,500m. She also won a gold medal in the 1,500m at the 2017, 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and in the 5,000m at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. As a junior, Faith Kipyegon won gold medals at the 2011 and 2013 World Cross Country Championships and in the 1,500m at the 2011 World Youth Championships and the 2012 World Junior Championships.
