Faith Kipyegon and Mary Moraa: Expect more from us in the coming years

World athletics champions Faith Kipyegon and Mary Moraa told their Kenyan fans and those around the world to expect more from them in the coming years. Faith Kipyegon became the first woman in history to hold both the 1,500m and 5,000m world titles from the same championship after taking gold at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The 29-year-old Kenyan achieved this feat after setting world records in the 1,500m, 5,000m, and one mile earlier in the season.

The 23-year-old Mary Moraa won the world title in the 800m, after last year in Oregon she was a bronze medalist in the two-lap run.

“Expect more from me while I’m still strong. I will switch to the marathon after the Paris Olympics. I want it to happen slowly and be consistent in what I do. These achievements have certainly changed my life. They are a huge motivation for me to train harder. I still can’t believe that I hold the 5000m world record. It’s something I never planned as it was my first 5000m race in eight years”, said Faith Kipyegon on her return home.

Faith Kipyegon is the Olympics champion from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the 1,500m. She was also world champion in 2017 London and 2022 Eugene, as well as silver medalist at the 2015 Beijing and 2019 Doha.
