Faith Kipyegon and Beatrice Chebet hope to inspire young girls in Kenya

Kenya’s Paris 2024 Olympic stars Faith Kipyegon and Beatrice Chebet have returned to their homeland. Faith Kipyegon won a third straight Olympic title in the 1,500m and silver in the 5,000m.

“Before Paris, my biggest goal was to defend my 1500m gold and make history. I thank God because I was able to grab the gold. I don’t know how I did it, but I think the drama in the 5000m final motivated me to improve the record”, said Faith Kipyegon after her return to Kenya.

The Olympic and world record holder has not lost a 1,500m race since 2021 and has won gold at the last four major forums.

Faith Kipyegon also holds five of the ten fastest 1,500m times in history.

“It was a great motivation to stand on the podium knowing that I am the greatest 1,500m runner and I believe that my historic moment will inspire the upcoming young girls for the future world championships”, added the Kenyan athlete.

Beatrice Chebet won the Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m titles in her Olympics debut. She became the first Kenyan women’s Olympic gold medalist in the 10,000m since Seoul 1988.

“I am so happy to be a debutante with a golden Olympic double. It was not easy to win the gold and I would like to thank my family, my coach, my teammates and everyone who pushed me to victory”, said Beatrice Chebet on her return to Kenya.
