Ewa Swoboda returned with a record in the 100 meters

The European champion in the 60 meters in Glasgow 2019 Ewa Swoboda, who achieved 6.99 seconds this winter, set a record in the tournament in Silesia (Poland) in the 100 meters. The 24-year-old Polish athlete achieved a convincing victory with 11.08 seconds (-0.4 m/s).

American Shannon Ray took second place with a personal best of 11.19 seconds, and another representative of the hosts – Anna Kielbasinska, also adjusted her personal record to 11.22 seconds for third place.

Ewa Nikola Swoboda is a Polish track and field sprinter who specializes in short sprints. She is a two-time European indoor championship medallist in the 60 meters, having won a gold medal in 2019 and a silver in 2017. The 17-year-old was a finalist in the 60m in her senior debut at the 2015 European Indoor Championships. Still 17, she became the 2015 European junior champion over the 100 meters to take a silver medal at the 2016 World Junior Championships. She twice won the event at the European U23 Championships (2017, 2019). Swoboda holds the world’s junior record of 7.07 seconds and the Polish national record of 6.99 seconds in the 60 meters. She is a multiple medallist of Polish outdoor and indoor championships.
