Lilian Turban is an Estonian track and field athlete, who specializes in the high jump, long jump, and shot put. She is a three-time national champion and one of the biggest athletics talents in the country. She has a personal best of 187cm in the high jump, 5.95m in the long jump and 13.43m in the shot put.
Lilian Turban was born on September 25, 2001, in Tallinn, Estonia, in the family of athletes. She started in sports as a kid under the training of her father. She showed great talent long jump and the high jump, winning a lot of regional and local competitions.
Lilian Turban started her competitive career in 2014, competing at the Voru Estonian U16 Championships in the long jump. Unfortunately, she did not earn an honor, but qualified for the final, where finished 7th. During the season, she won the high jump bronze at the Tallinn U18 Event.
In 2015, Lilian Turban finished 6th in the high jump at the Tallinn Estonian U16 Indoor Championships but earned several medals at the Tallinn and Voru regional championships in the high jump, long jump, and sprints. In the next season, the young Estonian athlete triumphed with her first junior national title, winning the high jump and long jump gold medals at the Rakvere Estonian U16 Championships. Meanwhile, she won the high jump silver and long jump gold at the Rakvere Baltic U20/U16 Match.
In 2017, Lilian Turban competed at the Gyor 14th European Youth Olympic Festival in the long jump and high jump, finishing 8th and 7th in the final, respectively. During the season, she earned the long jump gold and the high jump silver at the Rakvere Estonian U18 Championships, proving her talent in athletics.
Lilian Turban earned the pentathlon gold at the Tallinn Estonian U18 Indoor Combined Events Championships in 2018, but she also finished 4th at the Kuldiga Baltic Indoor U18 CE Match. She won the long jump gold and the high jump bronze at the Tallinn Estonian U18 Indoor Championships, as well as the long jump and shot put gold, triple jump silver, and 100m hurdles bronze at the Rakvere Estonian U18 Championships. Meanwhile, she won the long jump bronze at the Voru Baltic U18 Indoor Match.
In 2019, Lilian Turban won her first national honor, earning the high jump silver at the Tallinn Estonian Championships. During the season, she won the high jump gold at the Rakvere Estonian U20 Championships, Voru Baltic U20/U16 Team Championships, and Tallinn Estonian U20 Club Championships, but also finished 4th at the Ogre Baltic Team Championships.
Lilian Turban won her first national titles in 2020, triumphing with the high jump gold medals at the Tallinn Estonian Championships and the Tallinn Estonian Indoor Championships. She also won the high jump silver at the Ogre Baltic Team Championships and the pentathlon gold at the Tallinn Estonian U20 Indoor Combined Events Championships. Meanwhile, she earned the high jump gold medals at the Parnu Baltic U20 Championships, Rakvere Estonian U20 Championships, Staadion, Rakvere, and Hea Lootuse mängude III etapp.
In 2021, Lilian Turban competed only in the high jump event, winning the gold at the Tallinn Estonian Championships and the silver at the Tallinn Estonian Indoor Championships. She competed also at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships and Tallinn European Athletics U23 Championships but did not qualify for the finals. Meanwhile, she earned gold at the Indoor Jumping Meet, Spordikooli seeriavõistluse II etapp, Martin Kutmani Memorial, Tallinn Estonian U23 Indoor Championships, and Rakvere Estonian U23 Championships.
Lilian Turban attended the American Hawaii College in 2022, where competed at the American college championships. She took first place in her collegiate debut in the high jump at the Beach Opener 2022, winning the gold with 178cm. During the season, she finished first in the high jump at the Stanford Invitational and Spokane Invitational, as well as second at the Big West Championships. Lilian Turban competed also at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the high jump but failed already in the qualifications. At the Stanford Invitational, she also earned the silver in the shot put.
In 2023, Lilian Turban earned USTFCCCA All-America status after placing fourth in the high jump at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships with 187cm. Meanwhile, she won the bronze at the Parnu Beach Stadium Meeting 2023 and the gold at the Bryan Clay Invitational, but also competed at the Espoo European Athletics U23 Championship, but failed to earn an honor.
In 2024, Lilian Turban finished 10th in the high jump at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships but also earned the gold at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championship and Husky Classic.
