Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist in long jump Ese Brume and five other athletes will defend the colors of Nigeria at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade from March 18th to 20th. The country will participate in three disciplines – women’s long jump, women’s triple jump, and the men’s replay 4x400m.
Ese Brume will start in her crown discipline long jump, while Ruth Usoro will contest in the women’s long/triple jump.
“We have listed ten of our U.S.-based athletes for the World Indoor in Belgrade. We are monitoring them, and I am hopeful they will give us good results”, said the Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Samuel Onikeku.
Ese Brume is a Nigerian athlete who specializes in the long jump. She is a three-time African senior champion in the Long Jump and holds a personal best of 7.17 m. She is the African junior record holder in the event and also a five-time African junior champion in athletics.
