England defeated Brazil on penalties to win the Women’s Finalissima 2022 trophy

The women’s national football team of England defeated Brazil on penalties in the first edition of the women’s Finalissima trophy final, which pits the European champions against the Copa America champions. At the “Wembley” stadium in London, England’s soccer players beat Brazil after 1-1 in regular time and 4-2 in the subsequent penalties.

Thus, the English women extended their unbeaten streak to 30 matches.

The match at Wembley drew 83,132 spectators and tickets were sold out before October. It was the second successive trophy at this stadium for England, who defeated Germany in the final of the 2022 European Championship in front of 87,192 people, setting a record for a women’s football match in Europe.

Ella Toone gave a lead for the hosts in the 23rd minute with her 16th goal for England. In the third minute of added time of the match, Andressa Alves equalized for 1-1 and the final outcome of the match was decided after penalty kicks.

Georgia Stanway and Adriana were accurate for both teams in the first penalty shootout. The goal scorer Ella Toone and Tamires Dias missed the second shootouts. At an equal result, Rachel Daly was accurate, while Rafaelle Souza made a mistake and thus England took a lead in the penalties. By the end, Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly did not miss and this was enough for the team to get the trophy.
