Emma Raducanu lost at the start of the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. The British tennis talent was defeated by Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) by 0-2 (2:6, 1:6) after one hour of play.

Jelena Ostapenko stayed better on the court, making two breaks in the first set and three breaks in the second, giving only one breakpoint for Emma Raducanu, who missed it.

In the second round of the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Jelena Ostapenko will face the third-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia).

Anastasia Potapova (Russia) also qualified for the second round after defeating Petra Martic (Croatia) by 2-1 (6:3, 3:6, 7:6).

In the other matches, Tatjana Maria (Germany) defeated Ylena In-Albon (Switzerland) by 2-1 (6:2, 4:6, 7:6) and will face the 4th-seeded Caroline Garcia for the place on the quarter-finals.

Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) eliminated Liudmila Samsonova (Russia) after 2-0 (6:2, 6:0). In the second round, the Czech tennis player will face 2nd-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).
