Emma Raducanu expressed her gratitude for receiving the Order of the British Empire

Emma Raducanu is feeling “extremely grateful” after being awarded an Order of the British Empire for her achievements in tennis. Emma Raducanu, 20, received the award from King Charles III during a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

This happened 14 months after the British tennis talent triumphed at the US Open.

“It is a huge honor for me to be here with His Majesty the King. I feel extremely grateful”, said Emma Raducanu.

The British tennis talent is the first British woman to win the US Open since 1977. Then Virginia Wade triumphed with the title in New York.

Emma Raducanu is a British professional tennis player, born in Toronto, Canada. She reached a career-high ranking of No 10 by the Women’s Tennis Association on July 11, 2022, and is the current British No 1.

Emma Raducanu was born in Toronto and raised in London. She made her WTA Tour debut in June 2021. With a wildcard entry at Wimbledon, ranked outside the top 300, she reached the fourth round in her first major tournament. At the 2021 US Open, Emma Raducanu became the first singles qualifier in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam title, beating Leylah Fernandez in the final without dropping a set in the tournament. It was the second Grand Slam tournament of her career; she holds the Open Era record for the fewest majors played before winning a title.
