The British tennis player Emma Raducanu qualified for the second round of the tennis tournament WTA 250 Citi Open in Washington (USA) with a prize fund of 251,750 USD.
The second-seeded Emma Raducanu won her match versus the qualifier Louisa Chirico by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) to kick off her North American tennis summer, which last season ended with a US Open title.
“I definitely feel really good to start with a win here in Washington. It’s my first match since Wimbledon and I haven’t played much this year, so I’m happy with this success. Every first round is a challenge, especially when you’re not in optimal condition. It’s very important to deal with the little things, to stay calm”, commented Emma Raducanu.
For a place in the quarterfinals, Emma Raducanu will meet the Colombian Camila Osorio, who eliminated the 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin (USA) with 2-0 (7:6, 6:1).
