Emma Oosterwegel was awarded the 2023 World Athletics Combined Events winner

Dutch track and field athlete Emma Oosterwegel have been confirmed the winner of the 2023 World Athletics Combined Events Tour, which rewards her season-long consistency in the heptathlon. Thus, she was awarded with 30,000 USD prize for the results achieved during the season.

The World Athletics Combined Events Tour takes the best three marks of the athletes within the series, including both indoor and outdoor meetings, and converts them into result scores.

The highest single score for Emma Oosterwegel of the season came at the Decastar meeting in Talence last month, where the Olympic bronze medalist successfully defended her heptathlon title.

Following the calculations, World Athletics announced the standings for the season Emma Oosterwegel is the winner with 3,454 points, followed by Sophie Weissenberg (Germany) with 3,453 points and Saga Vanninen (Finland) with 3,399 points.

The Top 8 is completed by Rita Nemes (Hungary), Kate O’Connor (Ireland), Auriana Lazraq-Khlass (France), Vanessa Grimm (Germany) and Yuliya Loban (Ukraine).
