Elise Mertens won the title of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir in Tunisia

The Belgian tennis player Elise Mertens won the title of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir in Tunisia with a prize fund of 251,750 USD. She won the final over French tennis player Alize Cornet by 2-0 (6:2, 6:0) in an hour and 22 minutes of play. This is her first title of the year.

Elise Mertens made two breaks in the first set, in which a nervous Alize Cornet made as many as seven double faults on her serve.

In the second set, the Belgian tennis player was even more convincing, not allowing her rival to win a single game. Elise Mertens won 11 games in a row and left no doubt about his great superiority in this match.

On her route to the final, Elise Mertens defeated Jaqueline Cristian (Romania), Despina Papamichail (Greece), Moyuka Uchijima (Japan) and Claire Liu (USA), but none of them was among the top-seeded, having a great luck of early loss of of the top-seeded Ons Jabeur and 4th-seeded Petra Martic.
