Last year’s champion Elise Mertens (Belgium) triumphed again with the title at women’s hard courts tennis tournament WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir with a prize pool of 259,303 USD.
The second-seeded Elise Mertens prevailed in the final over the top-seeded Jasmine Paolini (Italy) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:0) in 72 minutes of play.
Elise Mertens was losing by 2:3 in the first set, but won four consecutive games to reach 6:3.
In the second set, she made three breaks, and Jasmine Paolini failed to win a single game.
The Belgian tennis player recorded her tenth consecutive victory at the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir. The title is her eighth and first since the last year’s tournament in Tunisia.
Elise Mertens successfully defended the trophy for the first time since WTA 250 Hobart International in 2017 and 2018 and is expected to return to the Top 30 in the world women’s singles rankings.
For Jasmine Paolini, the final was the second of the season.
