Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has announced that she is ending her collaboration with coach Raemon Sluiter. The decision became a fact only a week before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“I just wanted to let you all know that Raemon Sluiter and I have decided to end our working relationship”, wrote Elina Svitolina on social media. “We have had a great run and Ray has helped me become a better player, in my opinion he is one of the best out there on either tour and I will always be grateful of what we achieved together through his and our hard work and efforts”, added the Ukrainian tennis player.
She noted that she will announce who will be her new coach later.
Elina Svitolina has been working with Raemon Sluiter since March 2023. Under his guidance, she reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros and also the semifinals of Wimbledon.
For her efforts last year, Elina Svitolina was named the WTA Comeback Player of the Year in 2023, and Raemon Sluiter was also a finalist for Coach of the Year.
