Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina qualified for the third round of Wimbledon after defeating Elise Mertens (Belgium) by 2-1 (6:1, 1:6, 6:1) in 1:22 hours.
The match started strongly for the Ukrainian player, who won the first set in only 24 minutes after two breaks. However, the second set started in the totally opposite way after Elise Mertens made two early breaks, taking a lead of 5:0, finally closing the set at 6:1. Elina Svitolina entered strongly in the third set and took a lead of 5:0, winning the set by 6:1.
Thus, the Ukrainian player qualified for the third round, where will face Sofia Kenin (USA), who eliminated Xinyu Wang (China) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).
Ana Bogdan (Romania) also qualified for the third round after three-set victory versus Alycia Parks (USA) and in the next round will face Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine), who eliminated Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic).
Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) also advanced to the third round, after defeating Nadia Podoroska (Argentina) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:0).
The Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina qualified for the second round of Wimbledon after defeating Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (Spain) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3), as well as Dalma Galfi (Hungary), who eliminated Linda Noskova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:2, 6:2). Jule Niemeier (Germany) and Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (Canada) also qualified for the second round after winning their opening match in three sets versus Karolina Muchova (Czech republic) and Anna Bondar (Hungary), respectively.
Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) defeated Rebecca Marino (Canada) by 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:2).
