Elena Rybakina advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open

The Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina continues with her perfect performance during the season and registered another win. She advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open after a victory versus Anna Kalinskaya (Russia) by 2-1 (7:5, 4:6, 6:3) in a match that lasted 2:16 hours.

Elena Rybakina made a fantastic season so far after winning the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open and playing in the final of the Australian Open.

Today, Elena Rybakina had a tough match versus the WTA No 64 Anna Kalinskaya, achieving a three-set victory. The first set started with an early break in favor of the Russian player, who was leading and served for the set in the 10th game. However, Elena Rybakina succeeded to win at the second breakpoint and even recorded another break in the 12th game to close the set by 7:5.

In the second set, the Kazakhstani player started powerfully and after a break was leading by 4:1. Her opponent, succeeded to return into the match after winning five consecutive games. Thus, Anna Kalinskaya equalized the score.

The third set was quite dramatic. It started equally with both players winning their serving games. Elena Rybakina took a lead with a break in the 6th game, but Anna Kalinskaya returned the break immediately. However, the Kazakhstani tennis player succeeded to make another break and to take the lead again. This time, Elena Rybakina served for the match and did not miss the chance.

In the third round, the 10th-seeded Elena Rybakina will face Paula Badosa (Spain), who defeated Laura Siegemund (Germany).

In the other matches of the second round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) defeated Mirjam Bjorklund (Sweden) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) and in the next round will face Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil), who eliminated Tereza Martincova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (7:6, 0:6, 6:0).

Anastasia Potapova (Russia) also advanced to the third round after a win versus Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2). In the next round, the Russian player will face Cori Coco Gauff (USA), who defeated Rebecca Marino (Canada) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).

Magda Linette (Poland) eliminated Evgeniya Rodina 9russia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4), while Claire Liu (USA0 won her match versus the “lucky loser” Julia Grabher (Austria) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).

Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) and Martina Trevisan (Italy) also achieved straight-set victories versus Camila Girgi (Italy) and Nao Hibino (Japan), respectively.
