The 10th-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) advanced to the fourth round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open after defeating 21st-seeded Paula Badosa (Spain) by 2-1 (3:6, 7:5, 6:3).
Paula Badosa won the first set, in which she recorded 4 breaks against only 2 for her opponent. The second set started again great for her, as she was leading by 4:2, but Elena Rybakina took the initiative and overturned the set winning it by 7:5. Two late breaks in the third set, brought the victory to the Kazakhstani player, who advanced to the “Round of 16” and will face Elise Mertens (Belgium), who defeated Petra Martic (Croatia) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).
The 3rd-seeded American Jessica Pegula also moves ahead after success over her compatriot and 30th-seeded Danielle Collins with 2-0 (6:1, 7:6).
The 20th-seeded Magda Linette (Poland) broke the resistance of the 14th-seeded Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) and won the match by 2-1 (7:6, 2:6, 6:4).
Martina Trevisan (Italy) also qualified for the fourth round after defeating Claire Liu (USA) by 2-1 (4:6, 7;5, 6:4).
