Elaine Thompson-Herah

The five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah will compete in the 60m sprint in Birmingham on February 19.

Champion of the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m from Tokyo 2022 Olympics, Elaine Thompson-Herah is the Jamaican record holder and the second-fastest woman of all time in the 100m (10.54 sec) and 200m (21.53 sec). Her amazing CV also includes Olympic silver, in addition to the World Championship relay title and the 200m silver medal in 2015. She is a bronze medalist in the 60m indoor world championships and has a personal best of 6.98 sec.

“I am so excited to compete in Birmingham. I like to compete in the United Kingdom over the years and there is always a special atmosphere in this place. I set my personal record here in 2017, so competing here means a lot to me”, said Elaine Thompson-Herah. “I have big goals for the World Cup this summer, but first I would like to give the fans something to cheer up in Birmingham”, added the Jamaican sprinter.

The world record in the 60m is 6.92 seconds, set by Irina Privalova in 1993.

Elaine Thompson-Herah competes in the 100m and 200m. One of the greatest female sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion, the fastest woman alive, and the second-fastest in history over both distances. Elaine Thompson-Herah is also the first woman in history, and the second sprinter after her compatriot Usain Bolt, to win the ‘sprint double’ at consecutive Olympics, capturing the gold medal in both the 100m and 200m at the 2016 Rio Olympics and again at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
