Elaine Thompson-Herah thinks it will be difficult to defend her Olympic titles in Paris

Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah believes it will be very difficult to defend her 100m and 200m titles at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Jamaican athlete started the season with a lackluster performance due to injuries, but ended it with impressive times.

She opened her 100m season with a win at the JAAA All Comers Meet before finishing fifth at the Jamaican championships, missing out on an individual spot at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

She then headed to the Diamond League meet in Zurich, where she finished third before recording her first under-11 second result of the summer. The 31-year-old sprinter then competed at the Diamond League in Brussels, where she won the event, before finishing third at the Prefontaine Classic.

The multiple Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah believes finishing her season on a high is a huge motivation ahead of her title defense in Paris next year.

“I think I overcame the injuries and I’m grateful to close the season with these times. It’s put me in a good position ahead of next year”, said Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Elaine Sandra-Lee Thompson-Herah is a Jamaican sprinter who competes in the 60m, 100m and 200m. Regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion, the fastest woman alive in the 100m, and the second fastest alive in the 200m.
