Elaine Thompson-Herah started the season with a gold medal at the 60m spring at Mueller Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham, England. The Jamaican athlete, who is a five-time Olympic champion, took the distance for 7.08 sec.

The silver went to Daryll Neita of Great Britain, who took the distance for 7.11 sec, while the bronze was for Swiss Mujing Kambunji, who climbed the honorary ladder with 7.13 seconds.

This was the first race for the season for Elaine Thompson-Herah, who competes in the 100m and 200m. She is one of the greatest female sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion, the fastest woman alive, and the second-fastest in history over both distances.

A six-time Olympic medallist, Thompson-Herah rose to prominence at the 2015 World Athletics Championships, winning a silver in the 200 m. At the Rio Olympics, she became the first woman since Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1988 to take gold in both her disciplines.
