Elaine Thompson-Herah parted ways with her new coach

After it emerged that five-time world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was parting ways with her coach Reynaldo Walcott, also the two-time Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah followed her fate. She has also been training under Reynaldo Walcott in recent times.

Before that, the two-time Olympic champion in 100m and 200m from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics trained under the legendary Stephen Francis.

“It’s never fun to share news like this. But at the New York Grand Prix, I felt something in the race and still insisted on pushing. A few steps to the line I realized something was really wrong’, revealed Elaine Thompson-Herah. “I sat on the ground because I couldn’t put any pressure on my leg as I was being carried off the track”, added she.

She also shared that after a medical examination, she discovered a small tear in her Achilles tendon.

“Funnily enough, I came home thinking I would keep pushing and prepare for my national qualifiers for my third Olympics, but my leg wouldn’t let me”, added Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Elaine Thompson-Herah’s decision to part ways with his coach and camp may be indicative of a desire for a fresh start, both mentally and physically, as he works to overcome his injuries and regroup for the future.
