Elaine Thompson-Herah opens the winter season in Birmingham

Two-time Olympic 100m and 200m champion Elaine Thompson-Herah will make her first start of the winter season later this month. The Jamaican sprinter will take part in the Gold Label World Athletics Tournament in Birmingham on February 19.

Elaine Thompson-Herah, who is the fastest woman alive with 10.54 seconds in the 100m and 21.53 seconds in the 200m, will start at 60 meters.

The Jamaican sprinter has a personal hall record of 6.98 seconds in 2017.

“I am excited to compete in Birmingham for the beginning of my 2022”, said Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Elaine Thompson-Herah is one of the greatest female sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion, the fastest woman alive, and the second-fastest in history over both distances. She is also the first woman in history, and the second sprinter after her compatriot Usain Bolt, to win the “sprint double” at consecutive Olympics, capturing the gold medals in both the 100m and 200m at the Rio 2016 Olympics and again at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
