Elaine Thompson-Herah is not worried about the poor start to the season

Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah isn’t fazed by the slow start to the summer season she made at the Eugene Diamond League. The Jamaican sprinter finished ninth in the 100m in 11.30 sec but is confident of improving her form and looking to defend her Olympic titles.

“A journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step. The 2024 first step”, wrote Elaine Thompson-Herah in the social networks and accompanied her post with a “3 for 1 gold medal.”

Elaine Thompson-Herah had two wins in Eugene in 2021 and 2022 with 10.54 and 10.79 sec respectively.

In 2021, she started the season with 11.21 sec in the 100m, but then went on to complete an Olympic gold double in the 100m and 200m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Elaine Thompson-Herah is one of the greatest sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion, the fastest woman alive in the 100m, and the second fastest alive in the 200m. She is the first ever female sprinter, and the second sprinter after Usain Bolt, to win the “sprint double” at consecutive Olympics, capturing 100m and 200m gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and defending both titles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. A six-time Olympic medalist, she rose to prominence at the 2015 World Athletics Championships, winning silver in the 200m and, at the time, becoming the fifth fastest woman in history over the distance. The next year at the Rio Olympics, she became the first woman since Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1988 to win 100m and 200m gold at the Olympics.
