Elaine Thompson-Herah, the winner of five Olympic gold medals, is the last big star to be named a participant in the Orlen Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland on February 22nd. The tournament is part of the World Athletics Tournament with a “gold label”.
Participation in the Polish city has already been confirmed by the world record holder in the 1,500m Gudaf Tsegay from Ethiopia and her compatriot Selemon Barega, who is No 3 in the eternal ranking of 3,000m indoor.
Elaine Thompson-Herah won three gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last summer – in the 100m, 200m, and the Jamaican relay in the 4x100m. Before participating in Torun, the Jamaican athlete will start in participate in Birmingham on February 19.
Elaine Thompson-Herah is one of the most dominant sprinters in the world. She holds four of the top 10 times ever run in the 100 m, and is the only woman to run four legal times under 10.70 sec. She is the 100m 2019 Pan American Games champion and a three-time Diamond League winner.
