The five-time Olympic track and field champion Elaine Thompson-Herah has appointed Reynaldo Walcott as her new coach following her split from Shanikie Osbourne earlier this month, her management company said.
Reynaldo Walcott has also coached her compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce since the 2020 season.
Elaine Thompson-Herah and Reynaldo Walcott began their partnership less than a year before she attempted to defend her 100m and 200m titles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Elaine Thompson-Herah, 31, is the first woman to win back-to-back gold medals in the 100m and 200m at an Olympic Games after becoming the sprint champion at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. In Japan, she also won the 4x100m relay title, while five years earlier in Brazil she was left with silver.
In 2021, Elaine Thompson-Herah became the second fastest woman in history in the 100m, behind only world record holder Florence Griffith Joyner.
