The third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) qualified for the second round of the hard court tournament WTA 250 Korea Open in Seoul with a prize money of 259,303 USD. The Russian tennis player did not faced any difficulty, taking a straight-set victory versus Mai Hontama (Japan) to win by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) in 73 minutes of play.
Both players exchanged a break in the very beginning of the set, but after that Ekaterina Alexandrova showed her class to made two more breaks and close the set at 6:3. Mai Hontama started the second set with a break, but after that the Russian tennis player won next 6 games achieving 3 breaks to close the match in a little more than an hour.
In the next round, the third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova will face Yanina Wickmayer (Belgium), who eliminated En Shuo Liang (Taiwan) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).
The 7th-seeded Arantxa Rus (Netherlands) also qualified for the second round after defeating Na-Lae Han (South Korea) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) and will face Claire Liu (USA), who eliminated the South Korean qualifier Yeonwoo Ku by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).
Meanwhile, the 6th-seeded Alycia Parks (USA) and the 8th-seeded Katie Boulter (UK) dropped out at the start of the tournament after losing to Polina Kudermetova (Russia) and Kaja Juvan (Slovenia), respectively.
Yue Yuan (China) and Kathinka von Deichmann (Liechtenstein) also qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Korea Open in Seoul.
