Jutta Leerdam is a Dutch speed skater specializing in sprint events. She is the reigning speed skating world champion and took part at the Beijing 2022 Olympics, where she finished 5th in the women’s 500m and won the silver at 1,000m.
Jutta Leerdam was born on December 30, 1998, in the Netherlands. She started practicing sports from an early age and was one of the biggest talents of the Netherlands.
Leerdam became junior world champion at the 2017 World Junior Speed Skating Championships in Helsinki. The following year, at the 2018 World Junior Speed Skating Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, she finished second behind compatriot Joy Beune. During the 2017–2018 season, Jutta Leerdam won the ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating competition in the 1,000m and 1,500m events. She also became Dutch junior sprint champion.
In 2018, Jutta Leerdam turned professional. The Dutch speed skating star has won three world titles, including individual 10,00m and two team sprint titles, is the reigning sprint European champion.
Jutta Leerdam won the European Women’s Sprint title in Heerenveen 2021 and the Women’s 1,000m in Heerenveen 2020. She defended her European sprint speed skating title in 2023.
She also won the World’s Women’s 1,000m title and the Women’s Team Sprint in Salt Lake City 2020. On the next year, she finished second in Women’s 1,000m in Heerenveen 2021.
