Dina Asher-Smith will compete in the 100m at the London Diamond League

British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith will compete in the 100m at the London Diamond League on July 23. It will also be the key part of her preparation for the World Championships in Budapest in August.

Dina Asher-Smith, 27, last ran at the London Stadium at the Diamond League in 2019, where she finished second to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m.

“To come back and compete at the London Stadium will be very special”, said the Doha 2019 world 200m champion Dina Asher-Smith.

It was at the London Stadium that Asher-Smith ran 10.99s in the 100m in 2015 to set a new British record. Since then she has won Olympic, World European and Commonwealth Games medals.

“I can’t wait to compete in front of the amazing home crowd. It’s always great to race in the UK. After four years away from the stadium, all the athletes will be looking forward to putting on a show for the fans. I have some fantastic memories at the stadium so it will be amazing to create again in July. This will also be my key preparation before Budapest”, added Dina Asher-Smith.

The World Athletics Championships in Hungary is from August 19 to 27.

Geraldina “Dina” Rachel Asher-Smith is the fastest British woman on record. She won a gold medal in the 200m, silver in the 10m and another silver in the 4x100m relay at the 2019 World Championships, breaking her own British records with further records which still stand. Aged 24, she was the first Briton to win three medals at a World Championships. She earned a bronze in the 200m at the 2022 World Championships. As part of 4x100m relay, she won medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and also at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships. Dina Asher-Smith is the British record holder for the 100m and 200m and the British indoor record holder for the 60m.
