One of the biggest stars of the World Athletics Tour tournament with a silver label in Belgrade, Dina Asher-Smith won the 60m sprint in the Serbian capital tonight. The Briton, who has a career 200m world title, won by 7.13 sec after running 7.12 sec in the heats.
The runners, however, started four times, as two of the participants – the Israeli Diana Vaisman and Serbian Milana Tirnanic, were disqualified. After starting well the first three times, in the fourth Dina Asher-Smith had the slowest start reaction of all the finalists (0.182).
The Cypriot Olivia Fotopoulou finished second in the 60m tonight with a personal best of 7.27 sec, and the Greek Polyniki Emmanouilidou came third with a personal record of 7.30 sec.
Geraldina “Dina” Rachel Asher-Smith is a British sprinter. She is the fastest British woman on record. She won a gold medal in the 200m, silver in the 100m and another silver in the 4x100m relay at the 2019 World Championships, breaking her own British records with further records which still stand.
