The top-seeded Diana Shnaider (Russia) became the champion of the WTA 250 Hungarian Grand Prix clay tennis tournament in Budapest. In the final, the Russian tennis player prevailed over Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Belarus) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) in an hour and 37 minutes.
Diana Shnaider won the match, in which both players made in total 12 breaks – 7 for the Russian player and 5 for Aliaksandra Sasnovich. However, Diana Shnaider showed most experience and stronger nerves to win the match.
It is Diana Shnaider’s third title in a year, with all three won on different surfaces – WTA 250 Thailand Open on hard courts in February, in WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open on grass in June and on clay now. The last such achievement was recorded by Caroline Garcia (France) in 2022.
With her title in Budapest, the 20-year-old Russian tennis player will break into the top 25 of the women’s world rankings for the first time in her career.
