Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) qualified for the final of the clay tennis tournament WTA 1000 Madrid Open with a prize money of 8.7 million USD. The world’s number 2 had a tough success over Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) after 2-1 (1:6, 7:5, 7:6) in 2:19 hours of play.

In the battle for the title, Aryna Sabalenka faces Iga Swiatek (Poland). The leader in the world rankings won easily with 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) against the 18th-seeded Madison Keys (USA) in just 71 minutes.

Last year, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka again played in the final in Madrid, with the representative of Belarus winning by 2-1 (6:3, 3:6, 6:3).

Earlier in 2024, Iga Swiatek won events in Indian Wells and Doha, while Aryna Sabalenka triumphed at the Australian Open.
