Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina continues to the second round of the US Open after an easy win versus Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova with 2-0 (6:2, 6:1) in a match that lasted a little more than one hour.
Tsvetana Pironkova, who last year reached the quarter-finals, failed to put up particularly serious resistance to the 25th-seeded. The Bulgarian continued her negative performance during the season, as she has not overcome the first round of the tournaments in which she has participated since March.
The match started badly for Pironkova, who lost her first service game. However, Daria Kasatkina failed to defend the break and the result was equalized. The third game was also extremely difficult for Tsvetana Pironkova and lasted over 10 minutes. However, the Bulgarian saved three break points and finally managed to win it and lead 2:1.
But then Kasatkina took everything into her own hands and controlled the events on the court. The Russian won her service game quite easily and registered an immediate break. She won the next 3 games and won the set with 6:2.
In the second set, the performance of Tsvetana Pironkova did not improve and even worsened. Daria Kasatkina made a break on the first service of the Bulgarian player and took a lead. Since the end of the set, Tsvetana Pironkova won only one of her service games. Thus, Daria Kasatkina won the set with 6:1.
The Russian deservedly qualified for the second round of the US Open, where she will face Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic, who also recorded a victory in two sets over Elena-Gabriela Ruse витх 2-0 (7:5, 6:0).
